Michael Mulhall

Director

Leading on Dernier & Hamlyn’s strategic direction since NVC acquired the company in 2020, Michael’s primary focus is building on Dernier & Hamlyn’s impressive heritage and introducing developments that make it a company equipped to meet the needs of its clients in the 21st century.

This includes significant investment in new premises and equipment and introducing more collaborative cultures that give designers who use Dernier & Hamlyn for their bespoke lighting design and manufacture, direct access to the designers, craftsmen and finishers who produce their lighting fittings.

Michael joined NVC Lighting UK in 2012 as a technical support engineer and worked in several roles before being appointed a Major Project Manager responsible for bids, pricing strategies and business development where he secured many major contracts including NVC Lighting UK’s largest project and a multi million pound sales pipeline.

What is the best lighting project you have worked on and why?
Nobu London Portman Square was a fantastic project to be involved in. It has not been without its challenges, but as ever, our team stepped up to the mark and helped David Collins Studio achieve the ambience they wanted with more than 100 bespoke light fittings that are in various public areas of the hotel.

What is your favourite place?
I love being in the countryside. There’s nothing better than a walk through woods/fields/hills and finishing in a country pub for a bit of lunch and a drink. I’m a country boy at heart! My favourite places to walk include Clent Hills and Kinver Edge which are both National Trust sites local to me.
