The Wellesley

Designer: DENNIS IRVINE

Location: London, UK

Restored in both original Art Deco and contemporary styles, 1920s’ Knightsbridge townhouse hotel, The Wellesley needed sensitive yet striking lighting to reflect its delicate blend of heritage and modernity.

Dernier & Hamlyn was engaged to produce a bespoke lighting collection for the hotel’s 36 bedrooms and suites and public areas including the Cigar Lounge and Terrace and Oval Restaurant—a complicated but exciting project that used our team’s broad range of expertise to bring to life an ambitious Dennis Irvine design.

Ceiling and wall lights were created in elegant Art Deco style to accent the building’s history through subtle yet striking design punctuations. These were complemented by bespoke chandeliers of varying sizes designed and installed to provide powerful visual impact in key spaces, and large external lanterns for restrained drama in outdoor areas.

Throughout the project, this exceptional collection of light art was fundamental to imbue a modern age of elegance into an already refined space.
