Bespoke Lighting

Bespoke lighting is at the heart of everything we do. We have been designing, manufacturing and restoring chandeliers, pendants, wall lights, lanterns, table lamps and other unique lighting products in London for more than 130 years. Bespoke lighting made by our highly skilled team can be seen in hotels, luxury yachts, restaurants, private homes, commercial and public buildings all over the world.

Our designers and craftsmen, many of whom have worked for Dernier & Hamlyn for more than 30 years, possess unique skills and expertise that enable them to take designers’ ideas and make them into reality. They are specialists in solving challenges to ensure the lighting that leaves our factory meets all of our clients’ needs. From producing prototypes to show what finished items will look like to utilising appropriate materials that look right and work in their environment. From ensuring that light fittings can be maintained efficiently and effectively, through to the all-important staying within the budget, our experience helps designers to meet all of their objectives and ensure their clients are delighted with the lighting they specify and we make.

Much of the bespoke lighting we make is inspired by past pieces that we have manufactured and is informed by our vast archive and product portfolio which designers use to stimulate new ideas and creativity. Designers are welcome to come to our factory prior to commissioning us to talk to the people who will be working on their projects. Or they can visit while their lighting is in production and see it taking shape on the shopfloor.

We are very proud of the many high profile and important buildings in which lighting we have manufactured is installed. A selection of the projects we have worked on can be seen here. It includes fittings that integrate sophisticated lighting and AV equipment for Bloomberg’s European headquarters to fittings inspired by Tudor fenestration at the Tower of London. Contemporary outside lanterns at the recently revitalised Royal Opera House through to 1930s inspired lighting for an Art Deco inspired superyacht.
