When Martin Brudnizki Design Studio chose “the spirit of English eccentricity” as the inspiration for its decadent £55m refurb of the famous Grade 1 listed Annabel’s private members’ club in Mayfair, it was clear that lighting was going to be fundamental in achieving the right ambience.
It was also evident that in some areas the designers would need to rely on their wit and wiles to source vintage lighting from a wide variety of sources around Europe to complement the eclectic mix of bespoke wall-covering, textiles and furniture that abound in this crazy and unique building.
Table lamps and wall lamps in a range of materials, many featuring the animals and nature theme that runs through the clubs three floors, were taken to Dernier & Hamlyn’s London factory where its team of restoration specialists repaired and revitalised the lighting’s frames and shades before it was rewired to modern standards.
We’ve worked with Martin Brudnizki’s team on many occasions, however this is one of the most unusual collaborations. There were some truly magnificent light fittings that came to our team to work their magic and make them fit for this unique space in Berkeley Square.
